Yui = Tsugumi Auba (True Tears) + Haruhi’s headband; Mio = Zange (Kannagi); Ritsu = Aiko (True Tears); Tsumugi = Yukine (Clannad) + Miyuki (Lucky Star)

We seem to have some character design recycling going on here in K-ON!. Strangely, it doesn’t bother me as much as I think it should, probably because their personalities are likeable and not identical copies of other characters, and the episode is presented well. Is anyone else in love with the ending theme? It’s been stuck in my head since I heard the first 5 seconds. The only thing that worries me is the guitarist in the ending theme – I hear chord changes, but I don’t see hands moving… Hopefully it’s not like this in the episode body, especially concert scenes. With the mention of NEETs, it’s probably directed toward the otaku crowd, but if you like bands and light comedic drama then this might be a show for you. I’m definitely going to be picking this series up; I probably won’t be blogging about every episode though.

The place where wishes come true

This entry covers the closing episodes of Clannad After Story. I will probably do one last shorter entry for my overall thoughts and opinions, but first I need to set the story straight. I’ll give you a forewarning that this entry is extremely long. A PDF version is being prepared.

Catching up on Clannad After Story 09—12
Posted by tai on Jan 10, 2009 under Anime, Clannad, Commentary, Observations

So it’s about time for me to catch up in my Clannad blogging, so here are some quick thoughts on the past four episodes. Just as a reminder, 09 was the graduation episode, 10 was the moving out episode, 11 was the work-related episode and 12 was the failed job transfer.

I think in Episode 09 was the first time we see Okazaki cry. Despite his poor academic performance he’s quite stable emotionally, so I was really quite surprised to see him cry because he graduated. That’s really awkward if you think about it that way, ne?
But, Tomoya and Nagisa’s characters have been changing a lot since they started dating, and everywhere we see hints of Tomoya finally maturing and taking responsibility for his own life. He doesn’t want to end up like his father, after all, so this character development is only natural.

shima katsuki = nanashi

Again, I will stress the fact that this is a no-spoiler post, and anything here that may seem like a spoiler is just a prediction. I have not read the manga or seen the movie or played the game so I can only hypothesize about what will happen.
That said, I think Shima Katsuki is the cat. Yes, is; something along the lines of the fox Makoto Sawatari from Kanon. Let me give you the evidence I procured.

youhei did no wrong; fingers pointed at tomoya okazaki
Posted by tai on Oct 28, 2008 under Clannad, Observations

Sorry Tomoya, but I am accusing you for all the preventable incidents occurring this and the previous episode. Mei, you’re partly to blame, too. As for Youhei, doesn’t it just suck to be everyone’s punching bag, especially at times like this? Thank goodness everything turned out okay and that Mei is finally back home and going to school. If you ask me, the insecure Mei and overconfident Tomoya have changed, not Youhei as one may initially think. In fact, I believe that Youhei’s character has not been changed at all by the events of this arc.
